Denver Downtown Aquarium Visitor Information

The Downtown Aquarium in Denver features more than 500 different species of fish, marine animals, and mammals showcased in a cleverly designed, family friendly indoor aquarium format. Visitors can enjoy a variety of interesting ocean and freshwater exhibits filled with exotic marine animals and fish, as well as displays featuring a wide range of land animals including birds, reptiles, tigers. Dining at the Downtown Aquarium restaurant is enhanced by a 150,000-gallon fish tank swimming with sting rays, sawfish and other marine life.

Downtown Aquarium Restaurants

Visitors in search of a meal at the Downtown Aquarium will find that and more at the the Aquarium Restaurant. The restaurant menu features fresh seafood, steaks and kid-friendly menu items, highlighted by a spectacular 150,000-gallon aquarium filled with tropical fish and marine animals such as stingrays, sawfish and more. Open Sun-Thurs, 11am-9pm; Fri-Sat, 11am-9:30pm.

Downtown Aquarium Exhibits

The Downtown Aquarium offers several different exhibits for visitors to enjoy. The North America and Desert exhibits explore how land water habitats interact. The Shipwreck, Beach, Wharf, Coral Lagoon and Sunken Temple exhibits highlight ocean animals and fish in their native habitats. The Rainforest exhibit lets visitors explore mangrove forests and the fish, plants and animals of the rainforest swamps.

Do they have a shark tank?


The Downtown Aquarium does have a large shark tank featuring several species, including sand tiger sharks, nurse sharks and brown sharks.

Are there really mermaids?


Although the Downtown Aquarium does not have real mermaids, they do offer Mystic Mermaids - a fun, interactive show featuring choreography and music. The Mystic Mermaids swim with the fish and teach visitors about preserving our environment several times daily at the Under the Sea Exhibit.
