Three Great Hikes Close to Denver

One of the things that make Denver so unique is its close proximity to some of the most beautiful and breathtaking scenery in the entire country. We here at the Holiday Inn understand that you may not have a whole lot of time while visiting here, but of course you'd like to see as much of the area as you can. There are tons and tons of great places you can go to for just a quick day hike and escape the city for a few hours without sacrificing a whole day! Here are some of the best spots around.

The Sugarloaf

For all your early birds out there, if you want to see one of the best sunrises in the world, you need to wake up and get to the Sugarloaf! Just an hour outside of Denver, it's a half mile hike up the mountain to a breathtaking 360 degree view. Could there be a more perfect way to greet the day?

Lumpy Ridge

Part of Rocky Mountain National Park, Lumpy Ridge is a far less visited area of the park that offers some much needed seclusion from the typical hustle bustle of some more popular spots nearby. There are a number of different trails of varying lengths and difficulties, but one in particular will take you to crystal clear waters of Gem Lake!

Matthews/Winters Park

This park is just a half hour from the hotel and is a 4.5 mile loop overlooking the Red Rocks. The trails are moderate and it's also a great spot to catch some wildflowers when the weather is right!

In Denver, you're never far from nature's wonders, and that's one of the reasons why we here at the Holiday Inn are so in love with this city!
