You don't have to know art to know what you like! The Denver Art Museum is one of the largest art museums between the Pacific and Chicago with well over 70,000 unique works of art. Even if you're not an art whiz, you're bound to find something interesting and thought provoking while spending a day here! It's located on West 14th Ave up in Capitol Hill, just minutes from us here at the Holiday Inn Cherry Creek.
The museum was founded in 1893 with a mission to educate and bring about cultural awareness of places from all over the world through means of art. Now well over 100 years later and with an extensive collection, that mission remains truer than ever before.
Among the many the exhibitions currently on display, some particularly exceptional ones should not be missed. "Women of Abstract Expressionism" takes a much-needed look at American women in the famous art movement of the 1940s and ‘50s - a medium typically perceived to be dominated by men. Marry Abbott, Judith Godwin, and Lee Krasner are some among the many artists featured in this first-time exhibition. The exhibit runs through September 25th.
You also simply can't pass up on "#dancelab", the interactive immersive installation that dissects the experience of dancing. You'll follow pre-choreographed steps, and then later watch yourself dance with others who have also been to the exhibit. No skills required here, and the dancing doesn't stop until October 2nd!
The museum is also always hosting a wealth of great events, so be sure to check their calendar, linked below, for more details! Feel free to ask our friendly staff for directions to the museum!
