On the Hunt for Fall Foliage in Denver

Looking for some fun day trips to do around Denver this week? One of the best things about the mile high city is our close proximity to other beautiful parts of Colorado, and there's definitely no better time to explore than in the fall. The changing leaves of the Rocky Mountains and the beautiful nature that surrounds our city is a sight that comes second to none. We realize this more than anyone, so we've taken the liberty of cooking up a recipe for your perfect outdoor day trip while visiting us here at the Cherry Creek Holiday Inn.

Tourists and locals alike flock to the nearby mountains that surround Denver to see the incredible fall foliage that comes around this time of the year. As the seasons change and the air gets a little cooler, the leaves of Colorado's signature tree, the aspen, give way to brilliant deep shades of gold. It's a sight like nothing else.

October is a great time to visit Rocky Mountain National Park. Drive an hour and a half west of Denver, and along the way you'll see some beautiful sites as you drive down the scenic Peak-to-Peak Byway. Once in the park, majestic groves of high aspens can be found near Bear Lake. For a closer drive, Golden Gate Canyon State Park is one of the best places to visit, especially in mid to late October. At a lower elevation, the aspens here have taken a bit longer to change over. This park also offers incredible views of the Rockies.

After a great fall day of driving and sight seeing, why not put the finishing touches on a perfect day with a delicious meal at the Holiday Inn's signature restaurant, Flagstone's!
