One of the top reasons people visit Denver is for Rocky Mountain National Park - one of the best and most breathtaking national parks in the country. There's an endless amount of exploration and fun to be had in the sprawling wilderness of Colorado just outside of the Mile High City. It's one of our favorite places to visit here at the Holiday Inn Cherry Creek, and we'd like to share some of our favorite activities with you in this little guide!
If you're looking for a refreshing and fun afternoon in the water, dip on over to Grand Lake - Colorado's biggest and deepest lake. Whether you want to go for a morning swim in the cool waters along the public beach, or kayak out to the middle of the lake for some peaceful solitude, Grand Lake provides great fun in the sun for all ages and interests.
Or, saddle up onto a fine steed and ride a horse through the park! There's just something serene and special about partnering up with one of man's oldest friends for a ride through the vast wilderness of the park.
Of course, if you're feeling adventurous and are experienced enough, get out early and scale Mount Elbert - the highest peak not only in Colorado, but all of the Rockies. This isn't an easy hike for beginners, and only experienced hikers should attempt. Be sure to get an early start, as the weather can change quickly throughout the day. For your efforts, you'll be rewarded with one of the most breathtaking views in the world from the summit!
