You haven’t really lived until you’ve experienced the Denver County Fair. The 2013 edition takes place on August 9, 10 and 11, 2013 at the National Western Complex and it’s going to be quite a scene. This is the third annual event and there’s a ton of new stuff. First off, there’s the Denver History Pavilion, which covers everything from dinosaurs to railroad pioneers to modern-day icons. For those who cannot get enough of dogs who pull off amazing stunts, you’ll be ecstatic to know that the Animal Pavilion will feature an expanded schedule of four-legged events. These include dog sports and the Canine Couture Fashion Show. And the very popular Kids Pavilion will be enlarged to include the 4-H Pavilion. The two will share a stage that will boast a musical chairs competition and the 4-H Film Fest. What’s more, there will be bouncy houses galore.
There is a boatload of other entertainment options at the Denver County Fair. These include live music from bands like the Cruisin’ Cats Jazz Trio, the Belly Dance-Off, the Human Chicken Contest, a hula hoops competition, and Corpses & Crowns: Zombie Beauty Pageant. Edibles and potables are in no short supply, either. The Food Truck Roundup features a bevy of Denver’s phenomenal food trucks and there will be wine tasting in the Kitchen Pavilion. Educational moments include a Birds of Prey demo and Easy Home Remedies. And it wouldn’t be a real county fair if there weren’t blue ribbons to be won in such categories as pies, home brews, and crafts. Winners will not only come away with a prized blue ribbon but a $20 cash prize as well. Get all the details at www.denvercountyfair.org.
