There’s more to the BMW Championship than just competitive and exciting golf. Some of the proceeds from the tournament will go to the Evans Scholars Foundation, a wonderful college scholarship program that benefits caddies all across the United States. Every year, over 800 of the neediest of these unsung heroes with the heavy bags slung over their shoulders will receive full tuition and housing. The scholarship was set up by Chick Evans, who achieved fame in the 1910s and 1920s as one of the best American amateur golfers. In 1916, he won the U.S. Open and the U.S. Amateur, making him the first amateur to accomplish that feat in the same year.
