Get ready, because next weekend is everyone's favorite Spring celebration - Cinco de Mayo! And of course, we're going to be doing it up here in Denver. Whether you want to kick back with a tasty margarita, catch some live music, dine out on the town, or are looking some family-friendly fun, it's all happening in Denver next week. So join us here at the Holiday Inn of Cherry Creek in celebrating!
Cinco de Mayo commemorates and celebrates the day that a vastly outnumbered Mexican army drove the French army out of the country, and went on to become the independent country they are today. Today, there's a lot of celebration and fanfare that goes along with it. In Denver, the official celebration is hosted by NEWSED Community Development Corporation, a local nonprofit who aims to help communities and the underserved in Denver.
How fast do you think you can eat 10 tacos? If you're over the age of 21, you can put your gut to the test in the taco eating contest. That starts on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., just south of Seal Pond. Around the same time, there will be a chihuahua race hosted by Jammin 101.5. And you won't want to miss the Community Parade on Saturday morning. They start around 11:00 a.m. at Colfax and Welton. Get there early for a good spot.
It all goes down next weekend, May 6th and 7th, so be sure to mark those calendars. After a long day of fun, head back to the Holiday Inn of Cherry Creek and relax with us!
